Old Business:
Downtown Dexter Map
Peter and Dave presented the map they have been working on with discussion on what size the map should be, who will print it, possibility of selling more advertising spots for the sides, $1080.00 in advertising has been sold so far. It was decided that the map will include some locations that did not pay to be on there and that the back will have a spot for essential telephone numbers. The map is almost ready to go to printing. GREAT JOB!
New Business:
New Members
Two new members were voted on and accepted; Josh Doore, and Courtney Brown. Welcome to both.
Yearly DRDC Elections
Yearly elections were held with the following officers voted into office;
President - Judy Craig
Vice President - Dave Pearson
Treasurer - Dean Thompson
Secretary - Courtney Brown
Fossa Building
The Fossa building was discussed again. Dave has spoken with Jim Fossa and there is still a desire to sell the building to DRDC. Judy has agreed to contact him again and see what he is willing to do. During the discussion, Dean brought up the question, "should there be a Merchant's Association?" Will have to see if there is any interest, hasn't been in the past.
Town Hall
Dave presented three yearss of costs for the operation of the Town Hall. Some ideas for generating income to support tghe building were discussed briefly, but it as tabled for further discussion pending the success of a proposed grant.
Christmas Lights Contest
It was voted that DRDC will sponsor a Christmas Lights Contest with 2 catagories, Residential and Commercial, and in this time of need, DRDC will give each winner a $100 contribution in their name, to their "Charity of Choice"
Suggestions on Guest Speakers for our meetings
Suggestions were made for guest speakers and Judy and Dave agreed to contact a couple and hopefully line them up for the first of the new year.
Business News in Dexter? Old or New?
Dave read a letter he had written in response to a request from a Canadian Company for a location/building that offers at least 100,000 sq. ft. and 14-17 acres to accommodate a manufacturing company. It was a great letter; in it he proposed the FayScott building and mentioned the Pine Tree Zone as well.
General Discussion
- Wild West Weekend was discussed breifly. Judy is already getting calls from groups that want to be included.
- Next Meeting will be the 3rd Monday in January due to the Holiday Season
- Peter's resignation was sadly accepted. His contribution to DRDC is greatly appreciated and he will be missed greatly.
