MAINE - U.S. Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) is announcing three staff promotions and two staff additions to her offices throughout the state:

"I'm thrilled to announce these staff changes Monday. With a highly qualified state staff, I know the concerns and needs of the people of Maine will be met," said Snowe.

State Director: Snowe has promoted Gail Kelly to be her State Director. Previously, Kelly served as the Regional Representative for Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo, Hancock, and Washington Counties. Kelly, who has loyally worked for Snowe for seventeen years, will oversee all constituent relations state-wide in addition to monitoring activities in Snowe's six state offices. Formerly, Kelly was the Mayor of Brewer and is currently a member of the Brewer City Council.

Director of Outreach Services: Snowe has hired Ben Gilman to be her Director of Outreach Services. Gilman, who left his position as Director of Government Affairs at the Associated Builders and Contractors, will be a liaison between Snowe and business communities throughout Maine. Primarily, Gilman will facilitate increased communication between associations and business interests throughout the state and Snowe's Washington office. Gilman is originally from Westbrook.

Regional Representative: Snowe has promoted Sharon Campbell-St. Peter to be her Regional Representative for Aroostook County. Campbell-St. Peter has worked for Snowe for five years as a Maine staff assistant. Her new duties will include representing the Senator throughout "the County" and overseeing the daily operations of the Presque Isle office.

Regional Representative: Snowe has hired State Representative Deborah McNeil (R-Rockland) to be her Regional Representative for Kennebec, Knox and Somerset Counties. Completing her third term in November, McNeil will represent Snowe throughout the three counties and will oversee the daily operations of the Augusta office.

Regional Representative: Snowe has promoted Cheryl Leeman to be her Regional Representative for Lincoln, Sagadahoc, and Cumberland Counties. Promoted from Special Projects Director, Leeman will expand her duties to include community outreach throughout the region and overseeing the daily operations of the Portland office.
