Friday, March 10, 2006
DEXTER - The Dexter Regional Development Corporation, the Dexter Methodist Church and Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union are working together to bring Dexter area kids a fun morning celebrating Easter during the Easter Hat Parade Contest on Saturday, April 15th, the day before Easter.

The Event will start promptly at 9 AM at the Dexter Methodist Church with the Church ladies cooking up a FREE Breakfast for chaperoned children up to 12 years of age. Adults eat by donation. Pastor Lois Field and the Methodist church have held the nondenominational event of breakfast & the egg hunt for many years.

After Breakfast, around 9:30 AM, colorful Easter Hats will be created by the children with the help of volunteers including the DRHS Key Club. We will be providing the hats and decorations, but if you, the public, have spare silk flowers, tulle, paper streamers, pipe cleaners, glue, staplers, etc. that you would like to donate, we are accepting donations and volunteers.

At 10:00 AM Pastor Field holds her Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Church. Children up to 7 years old find eggs in the church and the older kids find eggs outside (weather permitting). Children get little candies in each egg; they receive a quarter for every egg found and the winners in the (2 age groups) win a Silver Dollar for the most eggs found.

Around 10:30 AM the children don their Easter Hats and 'parade' down to Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union, where they will parade into the lobby in front of MHFCU Judges. The winners will be judged in the same age groups 0 to 7 and 8 to 12 where all participating children receive an "Easter Bank" from MHFCU and the Easter Hat winners receive: (in the 2 age Groups)

  • 1st Prize $50 Monty Moose Savings Account
  • 2nd Prize $30 Monty Moose Savings Account
  • 3rd Prize $20 Monty Moose Savings Account
