Dexter Christmas Lights Contest winners announced
Thursday, December 20, 2007
DEXTER – Dexter Regional Development Corporation is pleased to announced the winners of the Town of Dexter Christmas Lights Contest, judged on Wednesday, December 19, 2007.

There were 2 categories and one winner is each. In the spirit of giving, DRDC is giving each winner a "$100 contribution" in their name, to their "Charity of Choice".

  1. Residential winner is Brian Cole & family on Forrest Street who are donating to Abbott Memorial Library to purchase Christmas Children's books in memory of Helen Ianniello.
  2. Commercial winner is Country Charm on Main Street and Owners Dawn and Alan Wintle are generously donating to WomanCare serving the Penquis area.
The judges would like to mention that judging was very close this year with about 2 dozen entries. Shelly Peakes on Pleasant Street gets Honorable Mention in the residential category and the Town Council Chambers & Town Office, decorated by Judy Brawn, Barbie Haskell, Chris Pooler and office staff wins Honorable Mention for business category.

DRDC and the judges of the contest would like to thank all the participants and people who anonymously entered others! We would also encourage driving around Dexter and see the pretty holiday displays, from small and tasteful to bright and bold!

A few streets that were found to be very bright are Forrest Street, Pleasant Street, Spring Street, Zions Hill, Old Ripley Road, Acadia Street, Lincoln Street, Dover Road, Maple Street and Mill Street. Take a holiday ride and enjoy the spirit of Christmas in our community.

If you have another street or location that people should check out, email DRDC at judy@DexterMaine.com.
